DESCRIPTION:

Photograph from original glass negative. Photographed in preparation for 'The 18th Century Architecture of Bath' published in 1904 by Mowbray Green. Felix Nolan's Lodgings for Travellers is shown at 82, Avon Street. These fine Georgian buildings were built by John Strahan of Bristol. This photograph is quite unique in showing a black man on the streets of Bath from this period. He is standing to the far left.
