Market Cross, Shepton Mallet, circa 1900
© This image is not to be copied or published without permission
Showing the market cross and shambles. Businesses in the market place include Dixon's Toilet Rooms and the Temperance Hotel, the latter bearing a circular Cyclists Touring Club plaque. The photographer made images of many stone crosses - including larger market crosses - around the West Country and beyond. Scanned from the photographer's original negative. Most of these images were taken before he started producing postcards, and before he saved his images on glass plates.
