Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight, c.1900s

The well mechanism at Carisbrooke Castle was operated by a donkey-driven wheel. This is keeper with its keeper outside the well cottage, who looks remarkably like the photographer's father. Scanned from the photographer's original negative. Most of these images were taken before he started producing postcards, and before he saved his images on glass plates.
