Description

The white flashes on these soldiers' hats usually signified 'umpires' in military exercises and these men may be out & about from camp as part of such an exercise. Unknown camp, may be at Ballard Down, Dorset. Scanned from the photographer's original negative. Most of these images were taken before he started producing postcards, and before he saved his images on glass plates.
