The Beaufort (Hilton) Hotel lift elevation and ventilation tower, Walcot Street 14 May 1973

image details

Description
Incredibly, this monolithic structure which blotted out the view of Bath Abbey as you approached, was thought to have provided access to an arial walkway. Part of the abortive master plan by Sir Colin Buchanan, including a road tunnel under the Paragon and exiting near Charlotte Street, the tower was finally demolished in November 1989.
