Description

A view of the construction site and workers buildings taken from above the tunnel. A temporary contractors line is laid on the bed of the canal, the towpath to the right has disappeared. From a set of 11 unique photographs, recording the construction of the Camerton to Limpley Stoke Railway. This mostly followed the route of the abandoned Somersetshire Coal Canal. Built by men assisted by a 'Steam Navvy'. Copied from the photographer's original glass negative
