Description

The canal lies empty beside the temporary supply railway, built on the towpath, a train approaches in the distance. A single story stone lock keeper's cottage stands beside an abandoned lock. See image ref 26290 for a similar earlier view. From a set of 11 unique photographs, recording the construction of the Camerton to Limpley Stoke Railway. This mostly followed the route of the abandoned Somersetshire Coal Canal. Built by men assisted by a 'Steam Navvy'. Copied from the photographer's original glass negative
