View from South Parade towards Ralph Allen's Wharf, Bath 1759
© This image is not to be copied or published without permission
Inscribed from the South Parade, Bath and dated 17th April 1759. This watercolour sketch with its slightly raised view-point allows an outlook over the stone balustrade towards Ralph Allen's (1693-1764) Wharf at Widcombe with Padmore's crane. On the extreme right is a tall, ruined building and next to that what is probably the Lyncombe and Widcombe Poor House. In the centre is Allen's Row, c.1730, designed by John Wood the Elder (1704-1754) for Allen's masons and the mill, now occupied by the Audi garage. Inscribed No.20. From a collection of 45 sketches of Bath by Thomas Robins the Elder (1716-1770). By kind permission of V&A Images.
