© This image is not to be copied or published without permission
At least 7 of the sketches concentrate on Prior Park. The Palladian Bridge was a prestigious addition to Ralph Allen's (1693-1764) garden at Prior Park in c.1755. The watercolour sketch shows Widcombe Church, Widcombe Manor and Widcombe Garden House in the background. Inscribed Mowing and Sweeping the Lawn, dated 23rd June 1758, numbered 24 and signed with a monogram. This sketch was undertaken on the same day as another sketch of the Palladian Bridge, the other view looks towards Prior Park Palladian Mansion (see Image Ref. 13069). From a collection of 45 sketches of Bath by Thomas Robins the Elder (1716-1770). By kind permission of V&A Images.
