Description

A lamp lighter climbs his ladder as this intriguing photograph of a lost painting depicts life in Georgian Bath. Similar in style to a sketch by Thomas Robins, but from a later period as additional buildings are shown in Widcombe. Ralph Allen's Wharf and Padmore's crane are clearly shown. Album annotated by Peter Lens 1747 and these photographs were taken from drawings in the possession of Mr. Elswick, Daniel Street 1747. The date is much more likely to be c.1780.
