An intriguing photograph of a painting that is an almost exact copy of a sketch by Thomas Robins the Elder. The main visual difference is the addition of a stone lighting column by the balustrade of South parade. Almost certainly a copy of a lost work by Robins. Album annotated by Peter Lens 1747 and these photographs were taken from drawings in the possession of Mr. Elswick, Daniel Street 1747. The date is much more likely to be c.1780.
