The North Parade Bridge, Bath 1881
© This image is not to be copied or published without permission
Showing the steel construction of the bridge before it was clad in stone. Fifteen views described as auto-lithographs in the book in which they appear (Stothert, Picturesque Bath 1881). Confused with tinted lithographs, The difference - a very regular printing pattern suggesting a mechanical original - is revealed under a strong glass. All the illustrations are printed in a distinctive wine-coloured ink, with a grey-brown tint.
