Description

Both Wood elder and junior tried to persuade Sir Caesar Hawkins to modernize the house, before it was demolished in 1764-5. These drawings have been identified as possible designs for the house, by Nash Partnership in their Design and Access Statement for the Workshops, Kelston. From a unique collection of drawings by John Wood the Elder collectively known as Architectural Drawings in Somersetshire. Many of the drawings include measurements, calculations and instructions, in the hand of the architect.
