It is quite possible that he used the rope and chain around his waist to haul the trucks of coal underground where pit ponies were not able to go. He worked at Dunkerton Middle Pit and Ludlows. From a set of negatives featuring Radstock copied by the Bath Chronicle perhaps for a centenary edition? Can anyone help provide more information?
