Description

Sir (Isaac) James Pitman was the grandson of Sir Isaac Pitman, inventor of phonographic shorthand. He was Chairman and Joint MD of Pitman Press and Publishing and MP for Bath 1945-64, succeeded by Sir Edward Brown on his retirement from parliament.
