Description

The baths are shown drained of water and preparing for a major archaeological dig, led by Professor Barry Cunliffe. The heavy staining shows the water level. The concrete floor, put in by Major Davis in the 19th century is being removed, to expose the Roman reservoir below. This image has a striking similarity to this historic image - image ref 18254From a large collection of colour slides of Bath by Ian Ollis of the Admiralty Camera Club.
