Known as the Glastonbury Fair, this was the second of the now world famous festivals to be held at Michael Eavis's Worthy Farm in Pilton. With free entrance, there was a medieval tradition of music, dance, poetry, theatre, lights and spontaneous entertainment. This year marked the first appearance of the pyramid stage and performers included David Bowie, Hawkwind, Traffic, Melanie, Joan Baez and Fairport Convention. About 12,000 people attended.
